Privacy Policy
Effective July 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Marbl.Ink ("we", "us") collects when you use marbl.ink (the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. Passwords are never stored in plain text — we store only a salted, hashed version (using bcrypt) that cannot be reversed back into your password.
Your documents
We store the documents you save — their titles, text content, and formatting settings — so you can access them across sessions and devices. Your documents are private to your account and are not shared publicly by us.
Session and technical data
To keep you signed in and to protect your account, we use a session cookie and store session records that may include your IP address and browser user-agent string, along with timestamps. This information helps us maintain security, detect abuse, and operate the Service. We do not use this cookie for cross-site advertising tracking.
Payment information
If you subscribe to a paid tier, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your full card number or other sensitive payment details on our servers — those are handled directly by Stripe. We retain a Stripe customer identifier and limited subscription metadata (such as your plan, status, and renewal date) needed to manage your subscription. Stripe's handling of your data is governed by its own privacy policy.
Advertising
Free-tier users may be shown advertisements. Where third-party advertising is used, the ad provider may collect information through its own technologies subject to its own privacy policy. Subscribing to a paid tier removes advertisements.
How We Use Your Information
- to provide, maintain, and improve the Service and your documents;
- to authenticate you and keep your account secure;
- to process subscriptions and payments through Stripe;
- to communicate with you about your account, including service and billing notices;
- to detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, or security issues; and
- to comply with legal obligations.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us operate the Service — such as Stripe for payments and our hosting and database infrastructure — and only to the extent needed to provide the Service. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the Service.
Data Retention
We keep your account information and documents for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your documents and associated personal data from our active systems, except where we need to retain limited records to comply with legal, tax, or accounting obligations, or to resolve disputes. Backups are rotated on a regular schedule.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including hashing passwords, transmitting data over encrypted connections, and restricting access to systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You can help by using a strong, unique password and keeping it confidential.
Your Choices and Rights
- Access and update: you can view and update your email and change your password from your account dashboard.
- Deletion: you can delete your documents at any time, and you may request account deletion by contacting us.
- Export: you can export your documents (for example, as .bstf, PDF, HTML, or plain text) at any time from the editor.
- Cookies: the session cookie is required to sign in; blocking it will prevent you from staying logged in.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data (such as access, correction, deletion, or portability). To exercise any of these, contact us at contact@marbl.ink.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
